From Microbial Science to Healthier Soil: LKB’s Approach to Agricultural Biotechnology

LKB Bio Fertilizer — Your Perfect Agro Partner!

Successful agriculture begins beneath the surface. Alongside water and essential nutrients, soil contains a living community of microorganisms that participates in organic matter breakdown, nutrient cycling and interactions with plant roots. Supporting this biological activity is an important part of managing soil for productive agriculture.

At LKB Bio Fertilizer, our approach combines microbial science with practical formulation. Our internally developed Stimulated-Enzyme Protection Biotechnology (SPBT) brings together microbial selection and cultivation, fermentation, active-component extraction and protective formulation for agricultural applications.

Bringing Beneficial Microbes into Agriculture

Selecting beneficial microorganisms is the starting point. Their characteristics, compatibility and suitability for a formulation also matter.

Through controlled cultivation and fermentation, LKB works with selected microorganisms and their metabolic products. Depending on the intended formulation, the process may focus on viable microorganisms, enzymes or other microbial extracts. These components serve different purposes, allowing product development to be guided by the needs of each formulation.

Across the LKB AgroGrow Series, bio-encapsulation, viable endospores or microbial extracts are used according to each product’s formulation.

Protection from Production to Application

Microbial products must remain suitable for use throughout production, storage, handling and application. Temperature, moisture and other environmental conditions can affect their stability.

Certain bacteria, including Bacillus subtilis, can form endospores—dormant structures that help them withstand some unfavorable conditions. When conditions become suitable, viable endospores can germinate and return to active growth.

Bio-encapsulation provides a separate form of protection. By incorporating microbial material into a protective carrier, it can help preserve viability and improve formulation stability.

These two mechanisms offer different approaches to protection: an endospore forms within the bacterium, while encapsulation uses an external carrier. SPBT brings relevant cultivation, extraction and protection processes into LKB’s formulation approach.

Supporting Soil and Crop Management

Beneficial microorganisms can contribute to agriculture in several ways. Depending on the strains and growing conditions, they may help transform organic matter, make certain nutrients more available and support interactions in the root zone.

These activities can contribute to an environment that supports root development and crop growth. However, microbial performance depends on the product formulation, crop, soil conditions and application practices.

For this reason, biological fertilizer works best as part of a broader management approach that includes appropriate nutrition, irrigation and soil care. It gives growers another way to support the biological processes that contribute to agricultural productivity.

Building Awareness Through Clear Science

At LKB, we believe agricultural biotechnology should be understandable and relevant to the people using it. Explaining how microorganisms are cultivated, formulated and applied helps growers make informed decisions and better understand the value of biological fertilizer.

Through SPBT and the AgroGrow Series, LKB connects its biotechnology development with a practical agricultural focus: supporting beneficial microbial activity and the soil environment in which crops grow.

Healthy Soil. Stronger Roots. Better Growth.
